Justin Rose the first Englishman to win US Open in 43 years

Justin Rose was the last man standing in the 113th US Open at the Merion after a tough final day and went on to win his first major trophy after a long wait. Rose delivered 2 fantastic pars at 2 of the most exceedingly difficult holes in golf to put him one ahead of Phil Mickelson, leaving Rose the first Englishman to win the US Open since 1970 after failing to make a birdie on his last hole.

When Rose began the day two off the lead, he slipped to two over with Bogeys at the third and fifth, with a birdie at the long fourth. Six and seven showed superb results with a pair of birdies for each, propelling Rose into a much steadier footing on his way to the lead.

The BBC explains how after Rose tapped his final putt and looked up to the sky with tears in his eyes, he later expressed of how his thoughts turned to his father and long-term mentor Ken, who died of leukaemia in 2002.

When presented with the trophy on the 18th green, Rose announced: "It wasn't lost on me that today was Father's Day. A lot of us come from great men and we have a responsibility to our children to show what a great man can be."

Rain Reduces South Africa vs West Indies Champions Trophy Match

The South Africa vs West Indies Group B Champions Trophy Match has been condensed to just 36 overs due to heavy precipitation.
The pitch at Sophia Gardens, just a short drive from Trophy Finder's warehouse, has been compromised by heavy showers overnight.
The match still goes on, however, and the winner will go through to the semi finals, as India already have.
The Group A match England vs New Zealand will also take place near Trophy Finder HQ on Sunday, with rain also forecast.

Lions captain Sam Warburton back on the field after knee injury

After missing the first two British and Irish Lions matches due to a knee injury, Sam Warburton is all set to return this Saturday and play against Queensland Reds with his fellow team mates. The Lions captain has been under pressure to speed up his recovery and resume full training following a recent steroid injection.

Gethin Jenkins will also appear in his first game this Saturday after shaking off a calf problem. Warburton expresses his excitement for Saturday's game: "I wish the game was tomorrow, really. I am just dying to get on the pitch. It can't come quick enough," he said.

"Since we got together as a squad it has been amazing. I have absolutely loved it, even though I haven't played.

The Lions head coach Warren Gatland said: "Two wins and two victories is great, but those two matches are building blocks as we build towards the Test series."

"We always said we would give every player a start in the first three matches, and this team reflects that."

"It also provides us with the opportunity to continue to look at different combinations. For the Reds, this includes a new centre pairing and a different front-five."

Warburton says how he feels all back-rowers have done exceptionally well, which makes the selection process all the more difficult.

Trophy Finder would like to wish the Lions the best of luck at Saturdays game!

Jose Mourinho to return as Chelsea Manager

Jose Mourinho has secured a four-year contract after agreeing to be Chealsea's Manager for the second time. Mourinho has insisted he will be a better and more mature manager following his first taste of management from 2004 - 2007, where his relationship with Abramovich seriously deteriorated.

After winning five major trophies when managing the club over 6 years ago, Mourinho is set to become the highest paid manager in the Premier League with a salary of £8.5m. Mourinho has expressed his hope of building a long term project at Chelsea and claims: "When you look at the profile of the Chelsea squad I think it's what they need at this time. It's very important for this club and very important for the balance of the squad, but it's a young squad with a lot of talent and I think they need stability to reach a high point of their evolution and for their careers."

Mourinho will be officially introduced as Chelsea's new manager next Monday after all formalities have been completed. Mourinho will bring two of his own backroom staff with him, fitness coach Rui Faria and goalkeeping coach Silvino Louro, both of which worked at Stamford Bridge during Mourinho's previous 3 year spell when Chelsea won two league titles, one FA Cup and two League Cups

Rauf dropped from officiating ICC

Pakistani Cricket Umpire Asad Rauf is no longer to officiate the upcoming Champions Trophy in England after ICC officials pulled him out following reports that he may be under investigation from law enforcement officials in Mumbai.

"In the wake of reports that the Mumbai Police are conducting an investigation into Asad Rauf's activities, we feel that it is in Asad's best interests as well as those of the sport and the event itself, that he is withdrawn from participating in the ICC Champions Trophy," said Dave Richardson, the ICC chief executive.

No mention as of yet regarding what Rauf may be suspected of or under investigation for. Rauf is currently in India officiating in the Indian Premier League.

Freestyle Footballer Andrew Henderson All Set to Defend World Title

World freestyle football champion Andrew Henderson will compete against 15 other freestylers for a chance to maintain his world title at this weekend's World Freestyle Football Championships, at the UEFA Champions Festival in Stratford, London.

After breaking his leg four years ago he was told he would never play sport again, but Henderson was eager to take up the sport in an effort to aid his recovery. The 22 year old from Cornwall practices his freestyle football tricks for 5 hours a day, 5 days a week, claiming it's like having a full time job with the amount of hours he puts in.

As Henderson tells BBC Breakfast, freestyle football is now a sport in its own right and beleives it is an artform that anyone can do. If you're not an excellent football player, maybe freestyle football is the sport for you. Unlike regular football, this is a solo sport with an abundance of tricks to master, the only resemblance to regular football is the use of the same equipment.

We wish Andrew the best of luck at this weekend's Championships!
